Only what is needed

We aim to collect information that is relevant and limited to operating the marketplace.

For clear purposes

Information is used for the purposes described here, not for unrelated uses without notice.

Not kept forever

Identifiable information is kept only while it is needed for an account, transaction, or obligation.

1. Scope and responsibility

This policy applies when you browse or use the Perks Purchase website, installable web app, account features, marketplace, payment, fulfilment, notification, support, or related services.

Perks Purchase decides why and how personal data is handled for these services. When a separate provider processes information for its own service, such as a payment provider or Google Maps, that provider may also apply its own privacy terms.

Information other people can see

Active listing content, listing images, seller display and business details, listing or business location information, and submitted reviews may be public. Delivery addresses, payment details, account preferences, and transaction records are not intended for public display. Do not place private contact, identity, payment, or other sensitive information in public listing text, images, reviews, or business descriptions.

Information may come directly from you, from another buyer or seller involved in a transaction, from sign-in and payment providers, or automatically when the app and its security, notification, and analytics functions operate.

3. How we use information

  • Provide accounts, profiles, listings, search, carts, wishlists, and subscriptions.
  • Create, confirm, pay for, fulfil, refund, and record marketplace transactions.
  • Show relevant currency, location, delivery, pickup, and seller information.
  • Send service notifications about orders, payments, account activity, and sellers you follow.
  • Provide support and communicate about requested services or important policy changes.
  • Prevent fraud, investigate misuse, enforce marketplace rules, and maintain audit records.
  • Diagnose errors, understand feature use, improve reliability, and develop the marketplace.
  • Meet accounting, regulatory, legal, dispute-resolution, and law-enforcement obligations.

We do not sell personal data for money. We do not ask for or store your mobile-money PIN. Enter a PIN only in the secure prompt supplied by your mobile network or payment provider.

4. Purpose limitation and data minimization

Purpose limitation

Personal data is collected for specific and explicit purposes described in this policy. We do not use it for an incompatible purpose without explaining the new use and, where required, obtaining consent or relying on another lawful reason. Data is kept in identifiable form no longer than reasonably necessary for those purposes.

Data minimization

We aim to collect information that is adequate, relevant, and limited to what is required for the feature or transaction. Optional information should remain optional, access should be limited to people and providers who need it, and information should be deleted, anonymized, or aggregated when personal identification is no longer needed.

5. When information is shared

We share personal information only where it is needed for the purposes described above, including with:

  • The buyer or seller involved in a transaction, where information is needed to confirm and fulfil the order.
  • Firebase and related Google services used for authentication, database storage, files, and push notifications.
  • Lenco and participating mobile-money providers used to initiate and verify payments or payouts.
  • Google Maps when a map is displayed or you choose to open directions.
  • Hosting, communications, security, analytics, and technical-support providers that help operate the app.
  • Authorized Perks Purchase staff, professional advisers, regulators, courts, or law-enforcement bodies when access is necessary and permitted or required by law.
  • A successor organization if the service is reorganized, merged, or transferred, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice.

Providers receive only the information reasonably needed for their role. Their own privacy notices may apply when they act independently. For example, a payment request includes the payer details, mobile number, network, amount, reference, and transaction metadata needed to process and reconcile that request.

6. Storage, device data, and security

Account, listing, transaction, notification, and operational records are primarily kept in cloud services used by Perks Purchase. Images and documents may be kept in cloud file storage. Payment providers keep their own payment-processing records.

The app also uses essential cookies and browser storage to keep sessions and navigation working, remember country, currency, theme and notification choices, preserve selected drafts or continuity data, and support install and survey prompts. Clearing browser data can remove device-only preferences, but it does not automatically delete records already synced to your account or required for completed transactions.

Some service providers may process information on infrastructure outside Zambia. Where personal data is transferred across borders, Perks Purchase will apply the requirements and safeguards required by applicable law.

We use access controls, authenticated requests, audit records, validation, and other reasonable administrative and technical safeguards. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so users should protect their passwords, devices, and payment prompts.

7. How long information is kept

We keep personal data only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected. The period depends on the type of record and whether an account, transaction, dispute, security concern, or legal obligation remains active.

  • Profile and preference data is generally kept while the account remains active or until it is updated or deletion is approved.
  • Active listings remain available until they are sold out, delisted, removed, or otherwise expire. Delisted listings become eligible for administrative purge after the platform minimum period.
  • Cart, wishlist, subscription, notification-token, and continuity data may be removed when you clear it, unsubscribe, replace a device registration, close an account, or when it is no longer operationally useful.
  • Transaction, payment, receipt, refund, payout, earnings, security, and audit records may be kept longer where needed for fulfilment, reconciliation, fraud prevention, disputes, accounting, or legal obligations.
  • Analytics, survey, diagnostic, and support information is deleted, anonymized, or aggregated when identifiable information is no longer needed.

A deletion request does not require removal of information that must be retained for a lawful purpose. When retention is required, use of the retained information will be limited to that purpose where reasonably possible.

8. Your choices and rights

Subject to applicable law and any necessary identity verification, you may ask Perks Purchase to:

  • Confirm whether personal data about you is being processed and provide access to it.
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Delete information that is no longer needed or is being processed unlawfully.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing where the law gives you that right.
  • Withdraw consent for optional processing that depends on consent.
  • Receive information about relevant service providers or cross-border processing.
  • Complain to the Data Protection Commissioner or another competent authority.

You can separately control device and email notifications in the app. Browser and device settings can also control location and push-notification permissions. You can clear local browser storage, though doing so may reset device preferences and unfinished local drafts.

9. Children

Perks Purchase is not designed for children who cannot lawfully create an account or enter marketplace transactions on their own. If you believe a child has supplied personal data without appropriate authorization, contact us so the matter can be reviewed.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the app, its providers, or legal requirements change. The updated date will be shown at the top. Where a change materially affects how personal data is used, we will provide an appropriate additional notice in the app or through available contact details.

11. Contact and privacy requests

Use the Perks Purchase contact options in the footer below to ask a privacy question or make a data request. Include the email address connected to your account and describe the request clearly. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity before acting.
